Antique Whitman Chocolate Salmagundi Tin

You would never expect to find something so cultured, so aesthetic as this Salmagundi tin which once catered fine chocolates from Whitman, one of the nation's oldest firms, especially as chocolatiers go. This Art Nouveau wonder was inspired by work of Alphonse Mucha, a much respected name in the movement and embellished with Byzantine style mosaic tiles. As a 1920s keepsake, you could hardly do better than this tin box.

Yes there are paint losses; yes, there is oxidation, and yes there defects, but as these boxes go, this one is among the better preserved I have found. Compared to its peers, it is in great shape.
