Antique Chinese Fluorite Carved Urn

A very nicely carved Chinese fluorite urn with poppies growing up the side and birds and flowers on the broad surface. The quartz is translucent, having an outstanding and rather uniform apple green. This form was very popular in the early 20th C. for making table lamps. As such this carving dates to late 19h C. or perhaps a bit later.

Condition
The urn is missing its cover and was drilled at one point to make a lamp base. The vase has some russeting and calcification.
