Toyohara Chikanobu (1838 - 1912) created a series of wood block prints for a series entitled Snow, Moon, Flowers of which this print is number 46, Moon after Rain over an old Temple where the protagonist Mitsuuji is with his lover Tasogare in an old temple. Tasogare's mother is above wearing a demon mask to frighten the couple, she apparently not approving of the relationship.

This woodblock print dates to c. 1885.

Condition
The print is in very good condition, having some age toning. The glazing has a small chip in the upper right which we show in a photograph.
