An antique miniature oil on board of a well known painting entitled Cupid and Psyche painted by Jean-Ernest Aubert in 1882. This very large painting was miniaturized by an artist who copied the original with the exception of the robe of Psyche which is blue in the original but pink/red here. Cupid was a very enduring theme throughout much of Aubert's work.The back is stamped A. C. Champagne, 180 R. de Rivoli. Paris, a firm which operated in the 1880s, thus making this painting contemporary with the original.
