A most lovely antique Chinese jade animal group of 2 recumbent rats, symbols of harmony and loyalty in Chinese lore, as well as virtues of survival and wisdom. The jade is of pale celadon color with dark inclusions, naturalistically carved in the form of two counterpoised rats. The rat is also the first element in the Chinese zodiac whose next year is 2032.
This animal group dates to 18th C. Qing dynasty.
