An antique French Empire style mantel clock with gilt bronze case with neo-classical motifs.
Case: the gilt bronze case with figure of Venus standing in draped robes holding a flaming heart aloft, while leaning against the clock case surmounted by a pair of lovebirds on a domed arch, over an ornate bezel with acanthus leaves, the centre with engine turning, blued steel moon hands and black Roman numerals, on a rectangular base with relief panel of two putti with central bowl, the whole on cast toupie feet.
Movement: eight-day spring driven twin train movement with adjustable Brocot suspension, and outside countwheel striking the hours and half-hours on a bell.
