A lovely antique Japanese Bizen ware figure of Fukurokuju or Jurojin, one of the Seven Lucky Gods. His lively and animated facial expressions would make him a welcome house guest. He is holding a scroll and sceptre and adorned in luxurious flowing robes. The rear bears a maker's mark impressed. We date this piece to Meiji period, but could be as late as Taisho.
