An exquisite combination of art glass and bronze create a splendid lamp with the delicacy of Japanese finesse. From our independent appraiser:"The figural bronze lamplighter boy in traditional dress with arm outstretched towards a flared, trumpet-shaped glass shade with scalloped edge and golden iridescent hue with threading across the surface, the whole on a gilt bronze base with an applied blossoming prunus branch, ornate chased apron and bracket feet."
This bronze Japanese lamp dates from the late Meiji period with the replacement shade c. 1920.
