An oval glass dish mounted on elegant silver plated stand forms a stylish compote, the bowl emulating cut glass pattern with heavy cane motif and scalloped rim. The bottom has a radiant sunburst. The silver electroplated stand has beautiful claw feet from which ascends moderately flaring legs whose escutheons adorn the apron of the stand.
The weighty and moderately thick glass has a couple of sand grit flaws which help us date this compote to mid to late 19th C.
This compote was formerly in the collection of Ann and Tom Cousins, the famous Atlanta civic leader and philanthropist whose company Cousins Properties, transformed the Atlanta skyline in the last quarter of the 20th century.
The metal stand is marked E.P., 2929 H, and a series of makers marks which are indistinct due to polishing.
