A large and unusual antique Staffordshire platter in the China Pattern by Harding & Cockson capitalizing on the English taste for Far Eastern ceramics. This scene mimics examples found on Chinese porcelains with courtesans in a yard, one woman holding a plant. The serene scene is decorated with colorful enamels in red and green over transfer designs, leaves and flowers on the rim.
Harding & Cockson wares are hard to come by and this example is quite superior to ordinary Staffordshire ceramics, making it an ideal acquisition for a serious collector.
