A fanciful interpretation of a late 19th C. fair or carnival covers a panorama of interesting scenery and activity with the large ferris wheel in the background grabbing attention. In front of it are the typical tents of vendors and exhibits. In the mid ground is the carousel with 2 ladies in long dresses standing. Coming into the foreground, we parts of a lake boat fitted with white chairs to take clients across a lazy pond of water. The glimmering pointilist treatment gives a hazy, otherly world longing for visitation.
Scott Duncan (1944 - 2017) painted another associated scene titled Carousel. He was a successful traditional late 20th C. artist whose painting we discuss gives proof of that description.
