Frank M. Whiting & Company

Frank M. Whiting & Company was an American sterling silver manufacturer founded in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in the mid-19th century. The firm became widely respected for its finely crafted sterling flatware, hollowware, and decorative table accessories produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Whiting pieces are typically marked “Frank M. Whiting & Co.” or simply “Whiting” with the word “Sterling,” and are known for their solid gauge silver and refined classical detailing.

During its most productive years, Whiting supplied silver to jewelers and retailers across the United States, producing both elegant flatware patterns and practical table objects such as coasters, trays, and bar accessories. The company later became part of the Gorham Manufacturing Company in the early 20th century, but earlier Whiting production remains particularly valued by collectors for its quality construction and distinctly American approach to sterling tableware design.
