Noritake

Manufacturer Profile: Noritake
Noritake is one of Japan’s most recognized porcelain manufacturers, originating in the late 19th century as part of the Morimura Brothers export enterprise. Established to produce high-quality ceramics for Western markets, the firm evolved from early “Nippon”-marked wares (circa 1890–1921) into the Noritake brand name adopted after U.S. import regulations changed. Noritake became known for its finely executed porcelain, combining European design influences with Japanese craftsmanship, particularly in hand-painted decoration, gilding, and later Art Deco and modernist forms. By the mid-20th century, Noritake had developed into a global producer of both decorative and table wares, maintaining a reputation for consistent quality, wide stylistic range, and strong presence in international markets.
