A vintage Chinese carved celadon bottle vase with quatrefoil reserves enveloping flowing vines, leaves, and and peonies, banding of acanthus leaves above and 2 applied handles evocative of elephant trunks. The large spherical body supports a cylindrical neck with flaring trumpet mouth, all of which are supported by a splayed circular foot. The superbly proportioned vase is glazed with a creamy elegant seafoam color of the first order.
The vase bears the mark Zhongguo Longquan - "China Longquan" which dates to latter 20th C. The decorative possibilities of this fine vase are many.
This vase was produced by a Zhingdezhen factory sponsored by the Chinese government to keep alive monochrome ceramic arts of which celadon is certainly one. Its quality features make it heirloom quality.
