Dahlov Ipcar

Dahlov Ipcar (American, 1917 - 2017) was an American illustrator and artist known for her whimsical or surrealist leanings featuring animals. Her parents were well known artists who encouraged self discovery which lead her to children's book illustration, fine art painting, and murals.

Her biography states, "Her works are now in the permanent collections of many important art institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney, and the Brooklyn Museum in New York. She is also represented in all the leading art museums of Maine, as well as in many corporate and private collections throughout the country."

She appeared solo for years at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and accumulated numerous awards and honorary degress even late in life.
