M I Hummel (Goebel)
M I Hummel is a line of porcelain figures based on the artwork of Maria Innocentia Hummel (German, 1909 - 46) a Catholic nun whose work won the attention of Franz Goebel, head of the manufacturing firm bearing his name. The first Hummels were introduced in 1935 and have been in production since. The various back stamps help collectors date the figures. Goebel produced many derivative porcelains including bells, lamps, plaques, and many more based upon the figures of Sister Maria.
